How It Works
Cats mature rapidly in their first two years, making the simple "multiply by 7" rule inaccurate. A one-year-old cat is roughly equivalent to a 15-year-old human, and a two-year-old cat is about 24. For every year after that, you add roughly four human years.
Note: Indoor cats often live longer, but they still age at similar rates to outdoor cats. Proper nutrition and veterinary care, especially after age 7, are key for helping cats reach their senior years.
